Covering an entire city block, this is the downtown area's largest park. The site for DeBardeleben Park (formerly Berney Park) was laid out by the Bessemer Land and Improvement Company in 1890. Featured in the center of the park is a doughboy statue which was created by E. M. Viquesney. The statue is one of more than 140 such statues that were created by Mr. Viquesney. A large fountain originally stood where the doughboy statue stands today.
